National Rowing Championships 2016

Rowing Ireland’s National Championships 2016

Overall, Blackrock’s first full experience of Rowing Ireland’s National Championships 2016 (Champs 2016) was a huge success. This was our first time to compete in multiple events and stay overnight in Cork. A huge congratulations to Louis Crowe (second year) who won the Men’s Junior 15 single sculls (1X), making him the first student ever to win an event at Champs in the Blackrock colours.

We would like to express a huge amount of gratitude to all the parents and friends of the club that made the weekend such a huge success. We’re sure this weekend will live on in the boys’ memories for the rest of their lives.

We would also like to congratulate Jack Stacey (fifth year) who stroked the winning boat in the Men’s Junior 18 coxless pair (2-), even if it was under the Commercial colours. This means his boat has now qualified for Homes Regatta. Homes Regatta is a gathering of all the fastest boast across England, Ireland, Scotland, & Wales.
